The thin texture is actually a good thing- because you’ll be applying this on top of your face base, what you’ll want is a very fluid product that you can layer with ease, lest you end up with a theatrical-looking cakeface! What I like to do after my BB cream or foundation is to dab a bit of the concealer on the areas I mentioned above, and then stipple (not buff) it into my skin in a bouncing motion with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. You can tell based on the swatch above that the consistency of this concealer is a bit runny and watery, making it more suitable for brightening as opposed to actual concealing. I found an impeccable shade match in “NC25”- remember to go at least one shade up from your skin tone when you’re swatch-shopping for a brightener! More than anything, my infatuation with this concealer stems from its lovely warm, yellow undertone (which is surprisingly quite a challenge to find in this country), making it a superb brightening match for Filipina skin. Now, while MAC Select Cover Up (P1000.00) is denominated as a concealer, I use it exclusively for brightening the planes of the face that typically need highlighting: the area between the brows, the bridge of the nose, the whole undereye area (right below the lower lashline and extending down the cheeks), and the chin. Hence my perennial need for concealer, on which I am totally dependent for fading the recurring visual aftermath of those long nights (e.g. Being the lipstick lawyer that I am, though (and admittedly a bit of a lipstick law student not too long ago), back then I considered another “C” to be a definite law school non-negotiable: concealer! While my dawns of poring over abstruse legal material are thankfully behind me, my late nights- now spent trying to jam the many recreational things I want to do with my life into 24 short hours- are far from over.
